  Are there 'ultra strict' congregations?

  when i studied as a young adult, it was in one of those congregations.

  having viewed the religion as a quaint little band of christians it conpletely dumbfounded me when i was told about such rules as 1 - no beards.

  2 - you must wear a suit to meetings and while giving a talk.

  In my hall they also ban beards and require jackets. I was given council twice, once about a soul patch (to which i replied 'show me the scripture and I'll see what I can do'), and once about the need for a two piece suit when on stage (to which I replied 'I don't have one'). Neither was pursued and I didn't lose 'privileges'. The beard was another story though, absolutely not.

  has anybody seen the new half-hour jw talk show called the inside story?

  the pilot is included in part 2 of the latest gilead graduation program, and they said more will likely come.. basically, it's probably one of the most cringeworthy programs to ever come out of jw broadcasting.

  it has all the tropes: an opening monologue, a studio audience, a live band, and guests that move down the couch to the left as the next guest is introduced.

  Basically, it's probably one of the most cringeworthy programs to ever come out of JW Broadcasting. It has all the tropes: An opening monologue, a studio audience, a live band, and guests that move down the couch to the left as the next guest is introduced. While it's trying to imitate a worldly talk show, it really more closely resembles an infomercial, where every little thing and every little quip is scripted, and the audience claps, laughs, oohs and ahhs on cue. And the JWs I know ate it up like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's just another distraction.

  The original Greek says "you the spiritual ones", and the whole surrounding context is comparing spiritual people with earthly, fleshly people. There is absolutely no basis for the translation "spiritual qualifications", implying a 'judicial' context.
